Pardon Our Progress

Please pardon the mess on the blog. I'm trying to give it a small facelift. I've realized during this process there's a reason that I'm an accountant and not a web designer. For example, I'd love to do a heading like this blog or this one. I cannot make a header to save my life! The new picture at the top, I made a collage on Picasa and then cropped the picture, but it didn't crop on here. I'm technology illiterate. Someone please help!!
